Station Square isn't just a nice place in the city to shop, dine and have fun.  The 52 acre property has a lot of historical significance and some of the most unique attractions in the city of Pittsburgh.

The Shops at Station Square

  • The Freight House was originally the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad Freight House.  It was like a parking garage for trains.
  • The Freight House was built in 1897 and is the oldest of the five remaining P&LE railroad buildings at Station Square.
  • Five freight cars remain inside the building that have been converted into shops.
  • The original train tracks are still under the existing floor inside the Freight House.
  • Commerce Court was originally the P&LE Central Warehouse.
  • Commerce Court was built in 1917

Bessemer Court

  • This court was named after the large steel structure that sits in the middle know as the Bessemer Converter.  The 1930's machine was used to convert molten (liquid) iron into steel. 
  • The Fountain at Bessemer Court performs 3 shows every hour from 9am to midnight.  That's 45 shows a day and 1,350 per month! 

The Landmaks Building

  • The building was originally built to serve as the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad Terminal
  • It took four years to build the Landmarks Building between the years of 1898 and 1901
  •  When the Landmarks Building was being restored in 1976, the stained glass ceiling panels were cleaned with 400 cans of oven cleaner.  The glass had not been cleaned since its installation in 1900.



The Landing & Marina at Station Square

  • The only pay-by-the hour boat dock in Western Pennsylvania. 
  • There are 47 boat slips to dock your boat and enjoy the amenities of Station Square
