Josh Gibson Heritage Park
Station Square and Brookfield Properties are proud to be the site of the Josh Gibson Heritage Park. Officially opened on August 4, 2022, the park is sponsored by FedEx Ground and celebrates the rich history of Pittsburgh Negro League Baseball.
This park will help educate, support, and preserve the story of Josh Gibson and the Negro Leagues. We are privileged to provide this type of resource to further connect the Negro League story and legacy to our community and to others who visit the Pittsburgh area. The park embodies the tremendous value and positive influence of Josh Gibson’s legacy.
Josh Gibson Heritage Park is free and open to the public. This interactive exhibit provides historical, cultural, and educational context to the Negro Leagues presence in Pittsburgh. Children and adults can explore some of the many elements in the game of baseball including statistics, decision-making, teamwork and more.
The first group of honorees includes Josh Gibson, Satchel Paige, and Cool Papa Bell, each of whom played for the Pittsburgh Crawfords and Homestead Grays during their careers. Along with them is Cumberland Posey who played for, managed, and owned the Homestead Grays.
